About Event Details
The following information should be provided in the Event Details tab when creating a new event for your organization. Some information such as images is optional.
Event Name and Description |
Event names should be short but descriptive. Our event search will pick up keywords included in the Event Name and Description. Suggestions for the Description:
|
Image (Optional) |
Provide an image that can help volunteers identify your event. |
Corporate Partner |
If you are setting up this event for a specific corporate partner of yours, select their name from the Corporate Partner dropdown. If this event is not for a specific partner, select All communities from the dropdown.
What is a corporate partner? A corporate partner is a partnership between a nonprofit and a corporate YourCause client. Clients must create the partnership in YourCause CSRconnect using the Community Partner feature in order for the partner to appear in this section. YourCause is not able to assist with questions on how to become a partner.
Important: The corporate partner cannot be changed after the event is saved. |
Virtual Event |
If your event is virtual or does not have a specific location, enable the checkbox next to Virtual event (online only). This can apply to events that are online or even in a volunteer's own home or office. For example, an event where volunteers knit sweaters to donate to a shelter. |
Location |
If there is a specific location for your event, type in the event's address in the Location field. |
Meetup Instructions |
If your event is in-person, you can include instructions that pertain to your event (e.g., parking, dress code, policies, frequently asked questions, etc.). Note: Text is limited to 1,000 characters including spaces. |
Participation Waitlist |
Enable the checkbox in the Participation Waitlist section to allow participants to join a waitlist if no shifts are available when registering the event. If spots become available, volunteers will automatically be moved to the event in the order they joined the waitlist for a given shift. Note: Enabling the waitlist applies to all shifts that have a limited capacity. It cannot be enabled only for specific shifts. |
About Event Schedule
The following information should be provided in the Event Schedule tab when creating a new event for your organization.
Date and Time |
In the Event Schedule > Date and Time section, specify the date and time that the event starts and ends. You will be able to set a time zone as well. |
Registration Dates
|
If you have a specific date range in which volunteers can sign up for your event, enable the Setup registration dates checkbox and provide start and end dates. When enabled, volunteers will only be able to register during this timeframe. If left unchecked, then they can sign up at any time. An example of when you might require registration dates is if volunteers need to complete a background check or submit a waiver before the event date. |
