Release: 1.58.0
Production Release: October 21, 2022 (9 PM ET)
The latest release of NPOconnect features updates to managing returned payments, bank information handling for nonprofits using a YourCause Processing Partner, and performance and security updates.
Disbursement
Implemented a consistent and standardized approach to managing various returned payment use cases
With this release, we have updated how failed payments are handled in NPOconnect for the following scenarios:
-
ACH payment cannot be delivered due to invalid banking details
-
Attempted wire transfer to a non-US-based nonprofit’s destination bank fails
If an ACH payment cannot be delivered due to invalid banking details, then the organization’s preferred payment method will be reverted back to check-based disbursements. The payment will be reissued via check and sent to the Disbursement Address on file. Active administrators will be notified of this by email and prompted to ensure this address is current or update their banking information to continue to receive payments via ACH direct deposit. No reminders will be sent after this initial email.
If an attempted wire transfer to a non-US-based nonprofit’s destination bank fails, then the organization’s disbursement will be suspended and banking details will be deactivated. Active administrators will be notified by email and prompted to provide new banking details. Reminders will be sent out at 30-days and 60-days if no update has been submitted and approved. If there is still no approved update within 90 days, the organization’s Eligible for Giving status will be changed to No and active administrators will be notified. No reminders will be sent after this fourth email (i.e., 90-day reminder).
Once banking details have been updated and approved, the suspension of disbursement will be lifted and the Eligible for Giving status will be changed back to Yes as long as their vetting has not expired.
For more information about these processes, see the Payments and Transactions FAQ.
Ability to edit or remove bank information disabled for nonprofits whose disbursement is managed by a YourCause Processing Partner
Non-US-based nonprofit organizations that have active bank information on file and whose disbursement is managed by a YourCause Processing Partner will no longer be able to modify the bank information displayed in their account. When you click on the Edit bank information or Remove bank information tools in the Disbursement Information area, you will now be prompted to contact the Processing Partner to make any changes to your banking details.
